Paulo Padilha to Tour 4 States with World Fest

Since 2003, Arts Midwest World Fest has been offering small Midwest communities once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to learn about the world from musicians inside and outside the US. This April and May, World Fest continues with a 4-state tour featuring Brazilian ensemble Paulo Padilha e Bando.

A music teacher with more than 25 years of experience, Paulo Padilha is a master musician and educator who specializes in rhythm and song workshops. His music is born from the urban bustle of São Paulo and mixes traditional Brazilian rhythms and styles such as Samba, Forró and Maracatu with contemporary nuances. His band of master samba musicians and dancers will make you want to dance all the way home!

Over the course of a month, Paulo Padilha e Bando will visit Bellefontaine, Ohio; Rushville, Indiana; Carbondale, Illinois; and Ames, Iowa. The group will perform concerts and participate in residency events embedded in each community.

“We are very happy to be in the US for the fourth time, sharing our music and our culture and exchanging experiences with you,” said Paulo Padilha. “Popular music is one of Brazil’s most important treasures. Our music talks about our urban life, as we try to find the poetry, joy, swing, and fun in everyday experiences. We hope you will join us!”

“We’re incredibly excited to work with Paulo Padilha e Bando for our first in-person World Fest tour since February 2020,” said Torrie Allen, President & CEO of Arts Midwest. “This work will engage deeply with four Midwestern communities and will allow us to reach a range of audiences with Paulo’s dynamic Samba music and spirited educational workshops.”
