Since 2003, Arts Midwest World Fest has brought international musicians to communities throughout the Midwest. This year, when we can’t be with you in person, we’re still bringing music and culture from around the world to your screens as part of World Fest Online. Throughout October and November, join us as we release videos featuring three incredible international music ensembles: Hadar Maoz (Israel), Paulo Padilha e Bando (Brazil), and Hikaru (Japan).
Hadar Maoz performs in a field as part of her World Fest Online: Off The Stage video.
“We’re excited to be able to connect these incredible artists to Midwestern communities through these entertaining and educational videos, which will be useful in school, at home, at the library—so many different applications,” says Torrie Allen, President and CEO of Arts Midwest. “It’s a chance to travel around the world when we can’t do so personally.”
Explore Israeli Music and Culture with Hadar Maoz
To kick off World Fest Online, travel through 2,500 years of Israel’s musical tradition with Hadar Maoz and her ensemble. Hadar finds inspiration for her music everywhere, from ancient Persia to modern rock and roll. Get to know more about life in Israel in a workshop and an “off the stage” documentary as Hadar takes you to the riverside, sings and dances with her grandmother, and visits with her mom.
Don’t Miss Hadar’s Concert Premiere!
Then, watch Hadar in concert, premiering Thursday, 10/29 at 7:30pm CT on Facebook and Youtube
Curriculum materials available at artsmidwest.org/worldfestonline will help educators and parents use the videos in classrooms and beyond.
Stay tuned for videos featuring Paulo Padilha e Bando (coming November 10), and Hikaru (coming November 17).
