Anne Romens named Vice President of Revenue and Communications

Arts Midwest is pleased to announce that Anne Romens has been named as Vice President of Revenue and Communications.

Anne has been supporting Arts Midwest’s fundraising and communications team in an interim capacity since January 2019. In that time, she launched the organization’s first major giving campaign, stewarded more than $2m in new and renewed institutional gifts, and supported its first leadership transition since Arts Midwest was founded in 1985.

“Anne has an outstanding reputation as a thoughtful and creative leader with exceptional integrity. These qualities, combined with her substantial background in fundraising and communications strategy, give me full confidence in her ability to help build on the powerful legacy of Arts Midwest,” said President & CEO Torrie Allen.

Prior to her interim role, Anne directed Arts Midwest’s national movement to increase public engagement with creative expression, a program she helped to launch in 2013. In this capacity, Anne led national trainings for arts leaders, directed grantmaking and peer learning cohort programs, and supported groundbreaking research into audience development strategies.

Anne has been at Arts Midwest since 2009, serving in successive development, communications, and programming roles. Her new portfolio will include building and launching company, region-specific, and national branding initiatives that drive innovation and growth for the organization.

“I’m honored to join the leadership team at Arts Midwest, especially in this exciting time of transition and evolution,” said Anne. “I look forward to bringing new energy and ideas into our partnerships; supporting artists, arts leaders, and organizations across this incredible region; and working with such smart and creative people to think big about how we build communities.”

Anne holds a Master’s degree in Arts Administration and Policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago. Her career has been dedicated to the nonprofit sector with experience in arts, social service, and affordable housing organizations. In addition to her work at Arts Midwest, Anne is President of the Board at Sunshine Montessori School in Minneapolis. She loves learning about geology from her 6-year-old and dancing with her 4-year-old.
