Congratulations to Emily Anderson on her promotion to Operations Director at Arts Midwest!
Emily first joined Arts Midwest in 2012 and has contributed her insights and strategic thinking to various roles with the organization over the past six years – strengthening both internal functions and external programming and communications.
In her role as program associate for ArtsLab, our leadership development and capacity building initiative, Emily supported organizations across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa in accessing educational opportunities and engaging in peer sharing. Her commitment to customer service, eye for detail, and passion for the Midwest arts sector helped to create an environment in which program participants could collaborate, learn, and thrive.
More recently, Emily has supported Arts Midwest and its leadership as the executive manager. In this capacity, she has lead initiatives to improve our HR functions and align our benefits package with organizational values. Among other important efforts, Emily currently co-directs Arts Midwest’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work—leading both staff and board through a multi-year process of identifying and living our values.
While Emily’s contributions to Arts Midwest can be seen formally within our policies and practices, her ongoing care for all staff is also felt within the organization. To those ends, Emily has helped Arts Midwest attract and retain talented and bright staff, she welcomes new ways of thinking about and doing our work, and she places employee growth and wellbeing at the center of her decision-making.
Emily’s promotion to Operation Director is a testament to her success in strengthening Arts Midwest’s strategic functions and her dedication is perhaps best exemplified in the stamina she brings to Minnesota winters—no small feat for Arts Midwest’s resident Texan.
