Legendary prizefighter Jack Johnson, the people of Appalachia, the care of aging parents, and life in the desert landscape of the Southwest are the subjects of the latest additions to the National Endowment for the Arts’ Big Read, providing communities around the nation with an increasingly diverse selection of contemporary works for exploration and discussion. These four new books will join 26 other titles available for organizations applying for an NEA Big Read grant for projects between September 2018 and June 2019.
