Arts Midwest and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

Arts Midwest’s proposal to the National Endowment for the Arts for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds is currently pending. We anticipate learning of our proposal’s outcome in early April.

Assuming our proposal is approved, we will be partnering with our region’s state arts agencies to regrant funds to arts organizations in our nine states. Arts Midwest’s funds will be added to the funding pool to be disbursed by each of our nine state arts agencies using the granting process they develop. Once each state arts agency’s panel has made its funding recommendations, Arts Midwest will work with each state arts agency’s staff to determine which applications will be supported by Arts Midwest’s ARRA funds. Grants to those organizations will be issued directly by Arts Midwest.

We are taking this collaborative approach to simplify the process of accessing ARRA arts funding for arts organizations by creating a single application source via their own state arts agency.

Please check your state arts agency’s Web site later this spring for updates on their plans.
