As the Creative Gatherings Manager, Maria manages professional development, programming, and communications for the Arts Midwest Conference. She also supports the facilitation of speakers, curriculum, and content development for Arts Midwest’s portfolio of programs that gather people for shared in-person and virtual experiences. Prior to joining Arts Midwest, Maria has worked as a storyteller, booking agent, actor, drama teacher, and most recently as a membership director for a nonprofit managing services and events.

Maria is a writer, performer, and producer passionate about connecting people through meaningful arts experiences. She has collaborated on several award-winning short films, and has toured multiple theatrical productions across the country, including her one-woman show, “Are You There, George?” and Mary Swander’s “Map of My Kingdom.” Maria serves on the board of Story Arts of Minnesota and is currently working on an essay collection entitled Clown.
Maria earned a BA in Theatre Arts from University of Iowa. She is a certified TimeSlips facilitator.
