Luke Rivard joined Arts Midwest’s International Initiatives team in November 2017. He brings his experience as a performer, educator, and world traveler to his work in the department, supporting Arts Midwest World Fest, Arts Midwest Folkefest, NEA Performing Arts Discovery, and other international projects. In his role, he helps plan, organize, and coordinate artist tour logistics, including international artist visa preparation; communicating with artists, communities, and other constituents; and scheduling artist tours, exhibitions, and residencies nationally, regionally, and internationally.
Rivard is an active musician in the Midwest music scene, performing in bands such as Porky’s Groove Machine, Black Market Brass, and varieties of other creative groups. As a drummer and percussionist, he performs upwards of 100 shows per year and finds joy in balancing his creative work with his role at Arts Midwest. As a music educator, Rivard offers private lessons in Minneapolis, in addition to workshops/clinics of all sizes for local schools, community organizations, and youth development programs.
