2009 Spotlight Showcases

The 2009 Spotlight Showcase application deadline has passed and we’re no longer accepting applications.

The Midwest Arts Conference Spotlight Showcases strive to present high-quality artists from a pool of applicants representing dance, music, theater and family programming, ranging from large ensembles to solo artists. Spotlight Showcases provide artists and ensembles with a forum for presenting work to a large, diverse audience in a professional setting, and offer attendees the opportunity to experience performances by a wide range of artists. The 2009 Spotlight Showcases will feature a total of 18 artists/ensembles performing 15-minute showcases at the Fitzgerald Theater.

Selection information

• Selection was based primarily on artistic excellence as displayed in submitted work samples (audio/video/DVD). In addition, promotional packets and online promotional materials were reviewed as supporting materials.
• A panel comprised of artist managers/agents and presenters reviewed applications during a two-round judging process to select 18 artists/ensembles.
• No more than two artists or ensembles represented by a single artist management company/agency were awarded a showcase slot.
• All applicants were notified of the decisions in writing by late April.
• Panel feedback was provided with notification letters.
