New Colleague Connection

If you’re new to the field or to the Midwest Arts Conference, join our New Colleague Connection—a program geared toward helping you make the most of your first experience with our event.

Prior to the Conference

  • Sign up when you register for the Conference, or contact Katherine Haugen if you’ve already registered.
  • We’ll match you with a mentor so you can ask questions before you get to the Conference.
  • Get a jump-start on your Conference preparations with the New Colleague Primers:

New Colleague Connection events at the Conference

  • Orientation: Don’t miss this session on the first day of the Conference — it’ll start you off on the right foot.
  • New Connections Mingler: This meet-and-greet event for all attendees follows the orientation and is a great place to continue conversations and meet new people.
  • Marketplace Tour: Get a closer look at the Marketplace when it first opens – our mentors will take you through and explain what’s happening and what to look for.
  • New Colleague Reconnections: Regroup with mentors and other new colleagues halfway through the Conference to network, ask questions, and compare notes.

Related events onsite

  • “101” professional development sessions: Check out one of the workshops for early-career artists or managers/agents, or sign up for a half-day pre-Conference seminar for early-career presenters.
  • Opening-Night Party: After the New Connections Mingler, head to the historic Indiana Roof Ballroom for some great networking and hors d’oeuvres.
  • Next-Gen social event: Currently in the planning stage – more information to come.

Calling all potential mentors!

Are you a veteran of the Midwest Arts Conference? We need people like you to share your experience and knowledge with new colleagues before, during, and after this year’s Conference. Contact Katherine Haugen for more information on how you can help.
