Sylvia Kaufman is director of corporate affairs and a director of Amstore Corporation, a national manufacturer of interiors for retail stores. Sylvia is also extremely active in international, national, and community projects. She serves on several boards of directors, including the American Friends of the Shalom Hartman Institute of Jerusalem, Israel; ArtServe Michigan; The National Council of the Aspen Art Museum; and the National Council of Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen. She initiated and is the chair of the Mid-East/West Fest, a collaborative, multicultural and educational community-outreach endeavor involving a partnership of midwestern communities and organizations and now an Arts Midwest project; and is the chair of the West Shore Committee for Jewish-Christian Dialogue. Sylvia is the recipient of the 1989 Moment Magazine Community Service Award, the 1989 recipient of the Distinguished Citizen Award from Muskegon Community College; the 1989 recipient of the Commendation for Service to the Humanities Award from the Friends of Hackley Public Library; and a 2000 U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Millennium International Volunteer Award; and she has been recognized for her contribution toward improving society by promoting a better understanding of principles of fairness and justice by the Muskegon County Bar Association.
